Once you update past 3.41, you lose the ability to hack your PS3 altogether for now.
You cant reboot, reformat, etc...., the updated firmware sits in the motherboard of the PS3 and can't be changed like that.
Nothing will magically revert your PS3 firmware to stock, ever.
If that were the case, EVERYONE would be doing it.....
Just sit on 3.50 and wait for a hack, if ever........

well you can now downgrade a ps3 with firmware 3.50 to 3.41 with the ps3key

If you need to downgrade a PS3 with firmware version 3.50 or below you can now grab the PS3KEY JIG firmware from the downloads section! Please note that we do not host the modified PUP file or any other file that may contain copyrighted code.

you flash this upd file to your ps3key
downgrade
and then flash the regular firmware upd file back on

Well, FW 3.55 aside, if I were to grab one of these dongles, which interal chip should I get? Atmel or Silabis? And any way to downgrade from 3.55 or is that capped at 3.50?

the Silabis should have replaced the Atmel

downgrading is still capped at 3.50

you might wanna take a look at the P3Go for the price as it can run any hex file, has microsdhc slot, and on board cpu + ram, and built in 128MB nand flash

I've read that one. Interesting piece, but problem remains. I think i'll wait on this whole fiasco until it hopefully becomes more solid. Sony made their share off PS3s over the past few years too, so I doubt they'd care much if the scene fully jailbreaks at this point.
