Recently acquired a PS3 Slim from a friend, and I want to mod it to play isos and roms of PS3 and PS2 games off of a external hard drive. How would I go about doing this safely? I know the model number is important so mine is: CECH-3001A
Thanks for your time

Hen is your only option as 3000 slims are unable to run cfw. You can also install isos to the internal HDD btw. It is also very easy to upgrade to a bigger drive. ^^

I downloaded what said it was an iso but I got this instead:
What is this exactly and can I still use it?

Still insanely long, but a bit better. It also depends on the game. The Last of Us in comparison has pretty much no difference in load times.

What about something with notoriously stupid load times like Sonic 06?
I dont know about that specific game but ssds will always be faster than a hard drive even when the machine using the ssd cant fully utilise it speed wise like in the ps3 which uses old sata version. hard drives spend a lot of time seeking to find files and that is instant on an ssd

Ok well I just got a new hard drive and put it in and its blank, is there any firmware recommendation I should be on before I install the latest?
