Hardware PS3 60GB (Fat) USB Ports dead

My USB ports on my 60GB PS3 Fat are dead, Is there a fuse anywhere or any common issues that I could look for. Normally it wouldnt be a problem but I need to "Pair" a controller, Is it possible to do this without a USB connection to the PS3 ?

I don't know of a fuse or anything easy; but this is kind of my thought process on fixing:

I guess you would need to look at the tear down the system and find out if the usb are on the main board or on their own board.

If they are on their own board, I would look for a ribbon cable that's came loose and see if it can be reconnected.

if they are on the main board; or the ribbon cable doesn't seem to be an issue, check ports and see if they are loose or cracking and need to be fixed/replaced/resoldered.

could be other problems, but this is where I would start.
