PS1/2 PS2 backups on ps3?

The 80GB that have BC feature only have software emulation. That will not work with this.

Wrong.. its not only software emulation, if it was ALL PS3s would play PS2 games. The 80GB 4 USB port BC PS3 has the GS (Graphics Synthesizer) while it does not have the EE. Its not fully software emulated.

weeedinSorry buddy, you are out of luck. 80gb is not backward compatible with ps2 games. You are not able to play ps2 games or ps2 backups for that matter...

You're wrong again. The 80GB 4 USB Port BC PS3 does play PS2 games. I've played Killzone (1) on mine a long time ago before.

EDIT: Oh and this guide says it works on the NTSC 80GB PS3 (that are BC of course).

When I get to the part where I need to set up the USB extreme game installer, it doesn't give me the option to select my flash drive. Just C and D

Why are you bothering, it's not going to work on your PS3, it isn't the right model.

The guide clearly says it should work on his. I'm afraid I can't help him though, I don't have Swap Magic and never tried this before on mine.

There are at leat 4 kinds of ps3s:
ps3 + 2 chips from ps2
ps3 + 1 chip from ps2
ps3 without chips from ps2
ps3 slim

And i think you need the 1st kind for Open PS2 Loader.

Are you talking about getting the USB Loader to run? Cause I easily got it to run but haven't tried any backups. I'm ripping Kingdom Hearts 2 and installing it to the HD right now and I'll see if it works. I have the same PS3 as you, the BC 80GB correct?

Edit: installing games to the PS2 takes too much damn time.

Edit 2: I guess it works. Disgaea freezes at the loading screen though.
