Hardware PS1 Game Slowdown?

Hi guys. I have a first-gen PS Vita that is on latest System FW and is non-hacked. I have several PS1 games on it and lately, I have noticed that some games have stutter/slowdown sometimes. Is this normal? If it matters any, I have disc load speed set to normal, not fast (In Settings by pressing PS button). Any help and thoughts greatly appreciated
