Okay, I'm considering getting a Vita. I've decided on the WiFi version, although if there's a reason to get 3G, tell me. What memory card should I get? Game recommendations? Anything else I should know?

as far as I have seen of the 3g version, there doesn't appear to be much gained from it unless you fancy the odd bit of web browsing or maybe skyping on the go

I can't think of any good reasons to get a 3G version other than web browsing on the go and stuff.

Get an 8GB memory card and here's a nice list of some games you should get as well:
Gravity Rush
Mortal Kombat
Uncharted
Rayman Origins
LittleBigPlanet (I think this was released recently right?)
MGS HD Collection

Those should last you for quite a while until some more games are released.

If you're really dead-set on getting a Vita, get a used Wi-Fi one. You can probably get one for around $200.

If your phone has hotspot abilities, there is no reason to get the 3G version. Admittedly, the GPS in the 3G is nice, but the Wifi version, in my experience, can do much the same through wifi. I've used the foursquare app to check in to someplace while on a wifi network, and location was as accurate as my phone.

As for memory cards, go as large as you can. I filled an 8gig one quick, before finally snagging a 32gig cheap. (Still have the extra 8G. Might need to try and sell/trade it),

Games, well, you're on your own for that.

I got mine at target today (I think I'm allowed to use store names; if not let me know and I'll remove). They are giving a $50 gift card on any vita purchase (including online bundles). Gamestop is the same but a $25 gift card. As far as games, I'm enjoying Uncharted and grabbed Gravity Rush because everyone has said it's very worth playing. The Metal Gear remakes are supposed to be very good as well.

If you don't like sports games, I'd either get a $210 refurb at Gamestop and get a $25 gift card toward the purchase of some games for it, or the Madden bundle at Target for $250, and trade/sell the sports game for something you really want.

And definitely get a case for it. As bulky as it is, I like the larger hard case for it; the last thing I need is one of my pets knocking it off the table and breaking it if it's in a cheap case.

The pull-n-go folio is a really nice carrying case if you think you need one.
It stores everything you think you might need.
It's got slots for 19 game cards, though it could carry more if you
double or triple stack them.
Slots for 2 memory cards.
It has a pouch that fits the charging cable and the cigerette lighter charger.
The removeable pouch can hold the vita with the silicone protector and
the ar cards.
It's great for long trips.

That's funny, you just listed all of the good games Vita has
