Hacking PS Vita needs Linux (Hear me out!)

You could say the same about the 3DS, PSP, Wii and all the other consoles that people ported linux to though. Consoles are typically underpowered.

Wii and PSP was in a time where the Raspi didn't exist.
Neither did android devices really exist.
So it made sense to port Linux to them.

Unlike today where it makes much more sense to make Linux work more efficiently on a Quadcore Raspi that you can get for what? 50 quid? then a Vita that you can get for 80? which also needs to be on 3.60 or you'd have to dig deep and build an exploit chain first.

Well plus too, weren't those mostly done as proof of concept? I don't see any major hacks that revolve around them, unlike the Xbox 360 for example.

Also that yes.
Tho, homebrew and hacking on the 360 itself was severely limited.
A few emulators and some tools came out of XeLL and Gentoo360.
Then again, in 2006, Dual core machines weren't that widespread so having a triple core Linux machine was a nice thing.
Especially with the PS3's native Linux support.
