I just bought the original Ps Jailbreak and it works great on ps3, but when I plugged it to the pc it recognizes an usb hub instead of the modchip.
The psjailbreaker site shows some update alternatives for its firmware, and their instruction manual says "gently open the usb key and plug the provided jumper (for sample units that have no jumper, the 2 testpoints closest to the usb connector must be bridged together."

Guys, what does that means? That means that there are 2 version of the official Ps Jailbreaker, one that is easy to update, that comes with a jumper, and the other one that does not have one and it's a mystery how to update it, because the manual says both are updatable (if there are both).

I have searched for all the internet and found some other people in the same situation, so if you know how to make the pc recognize the jailbreak as something that you can update, please tell me.

Thanks.

Actually I typed the instructions because I wanted to know if there are 2 official Jailbreaks.
I don't know how to make this connection and it seems that is not an easy thing to do is it? I mean, I would have to open it and I really don't know how to do it, so I prefer not to. The guy that sold the chip said that the store do not offer this assistance. Only defectuous hardware.

Anyway, my point is: For a guy that doesn't have any knowledge of this eletronical stuff, is it doable? And how?

It is already needed to update it? Or I need only to update the programs pkg?

There is another modchip that is as good as PsJailbreak and have this jumper?

One that I will not need to worry about having to buy another like I'm doing now?

Waiting for reply.

there is www.psjailbreak.com and www.psjailbreaker.com clone site
actually if your pc recognize as hub it can't be upgraded, because is only at read mode
to update need to enter write mode or DFU mode.

for you case i think is better to understand what pen you got and which website you need to read

I bought this one http://lojavirtual.gametronic.com.br/ecomm...a-PlayStation-3

The guy from the store told me that psjailbreaker.com is not a clone site, it is their new site because sony and its lawyers won't let them update the previous site.
So, it would be a "fake fake website". And it seemed to be the case, I mean it says "buy the original!" and "only ours is...", but now that you mentioned it really isn't the one I bought (mine is not this http://psjailbreaker.com/news.htm. I guess this is good (bought the original!)... even if the psjailbreak.com do not have any updates in a long time, almost a month and DO NOT HAVE AN INSTRUCTION BOOKLET, so my previous informations were from an erroneous source (even so, I guess they are applied in this case).

But still, let me summarize what i've concluded so far...

The original Ps Jailbreak IS updatable, but this is not an easy thing to do if you do not know a thing about eletronical stuff.
There are not 2 originals of the same brand. The one that comes with a jumper is from a clone brand.
There is not an official update for the modchip by now, but it will come.
I've seen an 1.1 psgroove firmware version already and any of the modchips of any brands that is like mine will not be able to be updated without a jumper to this or any other firmware.
There is not a "jumper adapter" or anything like that, so the only method to update is really only by opening it.

So, I still have some questions:

The psjailbreak.com website is still online, I mean, it will be updated again or there is a new one that I don't know?
If not, from were can I get the official updated pkg files and the other stuff?
This new firmwares that are on the internet and the ones that will come in recent future are THAT important? Can I only update the pkg files or with this firmware I won't be able to play some games?
There is a video that shows anyone actually doing the update process (opening, using the jumper and patching)? That would be helpful...

If I was mistaken in any of the things I've said PLEASE say it. I have met some people in other forums that are in the same situation and they have come to the same conclusions, basically. The information are confuse, but I guess things are becoming clear. But if you can show me that anything is wrong (or everything) then be my guest. You will have my thanks. Mine and from other people that are in mine situation.

Waiting for reply.
