I had no problem at all running project 64 in windows xp, but now that I'm on windows 7 ultimate, I can't get it to work. Everytime I start it, I get error code 8876086A. Then when I try to open a rom, it says plugins will not initialize. Can anyone please help me?

Odd. It's workin' fine for me.

Do you have hardware acceleration enabled? How 'bout DirectX?

Try updating your graphics card driver and also make sure your directx is fully updated. Also assuming you have the same hardware you ran project 64 on xp as you do with Windows 7.

Okay, I found 2 things that might be the problem...

1) I need to update my flash player activex. However, my computer says I'm an admin, but I seem to have no administrative rights. Therefore I can't run the installer.

2) My graphics card driver to be updated. It says "standard vga graphics adapter". It says the chip type is "ATI Radeon 9200". I do not know where to download the updates.

the 9200 drivers are issued by MS
ati dropped support for it after xp

I used to have the 9250

Ah, so if he runs windows update it should offer them?

Windows update would not offer the drivers because it is unsupported.

I have ATI Radeon 9200 as well. Here's how I fixed the driver problem when I upgraded to Windows 7:

QUOTE1) Download the Windows 2000 Driver for the Card from the ATI Website. Use option 2 (Driver Only).

2) Once the download has completed, simply right click it, click properties and run it in Compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2, also tick Run as Administrator.

3) After applying the settings, run the download. Let it extract, and then allow the Installation to complete, however decline the option to restart immediately.

4) Now, go to the System32 Folder and cut the ati2dvag.dll to your desktop.

5) Log out, and log back in. By this point, your graphics will look terrible and you'll be cursing me but have faith!

6) Take the ati2dvag.dll and paste it back into the System32 folder.

7) Restart your PC.

Thank you so much greenwatch200. It's working now
