emu_kidid says it requires more RAM than the Wii has available, and has too much x86 code (which is NOT portable to the Wii).

x86 specific code aside, didn't the Xbox have a version of Project64 running?

Mupen 64 is the easiest of the N64 emulators to port, and even then, as of right now, N64 VC wad injection has better results since Wii 64 hasn't been updated for a while. Hard to say when emu_kidid will update it, but it will happen ;)

In the mean time, I highly suggest Not64, a modified version of Wii64 that has many bug fixes and other nice improvements. Think of it as an intermediary release.

Hate to derail but since Not64 had been mentioned, what's the latest version and is there a compatibility list?

Not sure if there's a compatibility list, but some games that worked slowly on Wii 64 run better on here. Killer Instinct Gold runs full speed, but has missing backgrounds (can be fixed), and Excitebike 64 runs full speed. Mario Party 1 2 and 3 are reported to work well too. Need to test it more, but it's pretty damn good.
