Hi everyone, I tried two emulators, snes 9x gx and snes 9x on retroarch: first one isn't much customizable, has few options/settings, and when I tried FFVI, it lagged a bit. Same for other games.

Second one, snes 9x on retroarch, I remember it was basically perfect, but image was decentered (shifted up or down, no adjustment possible).

Snes VC is great but lacks many options, the more important one is button remapping for GC controller (mario world, DKC etc. are nearly unplayable given the B/Y buttons position).

Any advice?

Are you running the latest version of Snes9x GX? I seem to remember it running well with anything less intensive than Yoshi's Island, outside of the small audio issues. As for RetroArch, try playing with the resolution. Some TVs have troubles with certain resolutions, displaying them slightly out of alignment is one of the more minor issues that show up sometimes.

Now, if you want my personal advice, I'd just get a SNES. The Wii isn't that powerful and will be limiting even for SNES emulation.

Hi.

Already have a SNES but is a bit impratical to have it hooked up all the time.

Yeah latest snes9x gx. Audio and framerate issues. Definitely not as the originals.

I know the originals too well and notice every little difference. I thought SNES emulation on wii was great since it's powerful enough and it got much attention for homebrew and stuff. Maybe I was wrong :(

Don't get me wrong, retroarch's snes 9x next is great, only got this centering issue. I don t think it s a resolution problem since with the exact same settings, retroarch's nes emulators run fine and not decentered.

Maybe I should ask the devs if they can include a screen adjustment setting.

I'd wait a day to get input from other users about RetroArch, as there are users that have far more experience with RetroArch than I. I just use my SNES for SNES games. SNES emulation on the Wii could probably be improved, but that requires time and effort, it took a while to just get to this point. It's definitely playable with most SNES games, and enjoyable for those that don't need it to be perfect, but if you're looking for perfect emulation, VC is probably your best bet on the Wii. Either that, or get a switch box for your TV and leave your SNES hooked up.

Yeah, I understand is definitely not easy to code these emulators. I'm already more than happy with wii (usb loader gx), gamecube (nintendont), n64 (VC) and other older consoles (retroarch).

You're right, more inputs about retroarch would be appreciated, snes9x next on retroarch is incredibly unpopular compared to 9x gx so finding informations/inputs on the net about that one is a pain.

i feel like i remember a retroarch version that did have x/y adjustment. but that might have been changed in the more recent versions.
for me, it always starts games with a weird resolution that only shows the upper half of the screen, but thats always fixed by going to the resolution option and switching it back and forth one time.

No problem with buttons as long as I can remap them individually and if I recall correctly retroarch can do that.

I'll try that resolution thing :) thanks
