Ok so all 3 variants tried. Have you tried changing the extension to boot.dol from boot.elf yet for all 3 variants? What else is on the card apart from the Bannerbomb stuff? The only other thing to try would be an entirely different sd card.
Yeah I tried that and it still won't boot. And I don't have any SD cards laying around...I'm just using this microSD adapter thing they are using.

It can be notoriously finicky to install - hence a different card sometimes works. So is the bannerbomb stuff the only stuff on the card? Also just double check the write protection tab (highly unlikely lol).

You should only have the hackmii and bannerbomb stuff on the card - and the private folder should contain just the bannerbomb stuff.

One thing came to my mind. What version of bannerbomb are you using and where are you loading it, from the system menu sd card or the wii data management?

I had a similar problem using the wrong bannerbomb in the wrong system menu + loading it from the wrong place. Does she have other saves, channels along within the private folder?

apps, wad, boot.elf, private, startup.elf, bootmii
So you have bootmii on the stick and probably installed, but you don't have a backup of the nand to restore(NAND.bin) ??? I still wonder if you have a working version of priiloader ?

Have you tried to power off the wii and turn the power on WHILE HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON until you get to the menu ???

I have to ask !!

the other folders came from the Downgrade guide.

I'm using the v2 on 4.2U. I'm doing it from the SD slot logo on the system menu just like the bannerbomb guide said. And on the card, it didn't have anything. It was formatted for USB Loader.

It doesn't work. I don't think priiloader or bootmii were installed prior. Friend's sister bought it from some guy in the city.

So if its second hand you don't really know if it has bootmii (where did the folder come from?) or even cioscorp? So the private folder is just the bannerbomb one - it did not exist before?

It didn't. The memory card was apparently used for USB Loader cause it had a Wii game on it formatted to WBFS.

But the wii is second hand and could have cioscorp? Or you know 100% it doesnt? If it has cioscorp there maybe no vulnerable IOS hence possibly the problem installing.
You could try the application signcheck via bannerbomb to see if that loads and to run a log of what versions of IOSes you have. You might need a clean IOS36.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. I tried a burned copy of a game and it didn't show up in the menu. Plus, they have NeoGamma Backup Loader installed on the system menu. Don't see why they would need that if they could backup through disc channel.

What I could say is if you did not get back to 3.x, get the right WAD file for your system menu, and the right IOS WAD using NUS, file versions etcetera can be found on wiibrew. Amd install the newest version of HBC using Bannerbomb, Indiana PWNs or SmashStack.. Or even, not sure tho, the olde Twilight Hack.

From there just Fololw any softmod guide and you are done.

Ok, so you have NeoGamma on the Menu, it is probably a forwarder that points to a /NeoGamma folder on the SD stick in the /apps folder. Replace that boot.dol with the HackMii boot.dol and fire up the NeoGamma from your Menu. This should reinstall the HBC. As a fact, if that works you could replace that .dol with any .dol you want to boot. IF the NeoGamma in the menu is a forwarder. What else is in the Menu ?? What other apps are in the menu and in the apps folder on the sd stick ?? Do you have anything else in the Menu that forwards to the SD stick ?? If so just replace the boot.dol in one of them and try it.

Don't think it is because on the SD card there was nothing on it. It was formatted to WBFS so I don't think they were using it.

What happens when you click start on the NeoGamma in the menu ??

If it returns to the Wii Menu then it's a forwarder and can be used to do what has been discussed above. Just format the stick to fat and put the apps folder on the root of sd stick and a folder called NeoGamma in the apps folder and put the hackmii (boot.dol) in the NeoGamma folder and start up NeoGamma from the menu.

root(SD):/apps/NeoGamma/boot.dol

spelling and capitals are important.

If that don't work go with Quincy advice above.

...maybe try TBR via bannerbomb.

there's a chance it can still function when your IOS36 is screwed (Which it could be if you cannot launch anything else), then use it to install a patched IOS36.

Then if that works, continue with modding.
