Well, the one with windows is an SSD, I don't think you can defragment those, can you?

No, they cant be defragment because of the flash cells and wear leveling which stores the files by alghorythmus distributed over the hole drive to prevent the drive against dying.

this is the reason I keep disk backups (in case something fucked up happens with the computer). it's easier than researching a bunch of ideas that fail to work.

I wish I could keep a backup. My Windows 10 Backup (using windows 7 menu) keeps freezing up at 97% when it seems to be making the system image...

You can use Acronis to make a system image that yo can re-instate through the windows recovery menus? I never knew that... I do have acronis after that SSD upgrade I did a few weeks ago so, might be worth a try.

yes, I've flashed a disk image before, and I had no issues doing so.
