Hacking Problem loading normal map DDS files

When I try to view DDS files that are normal maps they don't look like what they do in the thumbnail/preview.

This happens for all files like this. I can view the normal textures just fine though.What is going wrong here? I'm using Photoshop CS6 by the way.
