?f the first revision of 0.30 works fine,is there any risk or danger to install rev2?

I installed rev2 and its working flawless, no problems here. I´d say go ahead and install it, as it has some bugs fixed.

Reporting my experience with it

I had preloader 0.29 JODI on a 4.2u, using ios60 instead of ios70

Ok, so I updated to preloader 0.30, when tried to load the sysmenu, I got the ios70 had no es_diverify error, so I downloaded the ios70 freethebug wad and installed, went to the preloader settings, changed to ios70, saved and left the settings screen, selected "System Menu", and it code dumped. So I turned it off, and on again and it loaded the sysmenu normally.

But I was intrigued by that code dump, So I got back on preloader to check it out, as soon as I tried to enter the settings screen again, it code dumped (again), I figured it could be the sign bug that was probably patched into ios70 along with the es_diverify, so I restored the ios70 to a clean one.

After that, I had to go back into preloader settings and set it to ios60 again, and its working fine with it (even loading fake-signed stuff from the sd menu).

Hope this helps anyone, I guess you dont have to use ios70 with preloader at all.

My current settings are: sysmenu 4.2u, preloader 0.30 using ios60.

I tried to look for a ios70 with only the es_diverify patched to test it (I also tried to pacth it, but wasnt able to), but couldnt find any, if anyone could send me a link on pm, I would be very grateful.

Wii WON'T START ON AFTER INSTALLING PRELOADER 0.30??? SOLUTION HERE!!!!!!!!!!
-I've posted this twice already and ppl are still asking, so listen up and spread the word!

-hold reset as wii is powering on to access preloader
-go to homebrew channel
-uninstall preloader by reinstalling your system menu wad (look into NUS downloader if u don't know where 2 find this)
-run nand clean, say yes through ALL the steps (totally safe, done it a thousand times)
-your wii is now preloader free... time to fix that! Reinstall preloader 0.30 (or 0.29 JODI), be sure to hold B as you press either + or - in order to run the installer using IOS249.
-1 PROBLEM SOLVED

wrong. your solution is only a solution if it makes the app work as advertised. the app is advertised to work for installing over previous installation including older versions, which is not what you are asking people to do.
right now the app description is incorrect, it is relatively likely to fail at "updating" an existing installation.
I'm sure the fix won't be impossible to do, but if this is going to continue to be listed as a feature, than it is a bug until it is fixed.

Well excuse me for helping people get 0.30 working on their wii's. Whether or not it can 100% correctly update an older version doesn't REALLY matter, what matters is that it works half the time, and if it doesn't work, you're not bricked, you can still access homebrew, uninstall preloader the old fashioned way, then reinstall it using the 0.30 installer. Granted it would be nice if preloader uninstalled everything the way the nandclean+sysmenuwad method can, but common man... cut the coders some slack, they'll work any "bugs" (if you can call them that). And as always there's a workaround... look up and you'll see it!

I wasn't picking on or rushing anyone or making any demands.
You claimed you'd "already posted the solution" and people should stop asking and just read your solution.
...But that is not the point, you posted a "solution" that doesn't involve the program actually working as intended.
Acting like a program is flawless when it has flaws isn't loyalty, it's silly.
I could care less if the program does exactly what it's supposed to, but the author AND DEFINITELY potential downloaders do care.
Your solution is just exactly what everyone else has done for every other binary release of preloader,
so please, don't be pompous...you got thanks from people who just wanted a workaround, and that's great.
If the cIOS was supposed to load burnt games but failed for some reasonable percentage of people, would you be one of those just telling people, "omg just buy a modchip"? Cause those people who do that are annoying.

point taken, just frustrating repeating myself 4 times (i noticed even you reported the same problem after I had answered it twice). And plz, 4get mod chips, I think we can agree they're a waste of time and they cost almost as much as the wii itself. Anyways, we're all on the same 'team' here (us vs. ninty), so lets try to stay off each others nerves.

Very nice update! Upgrade from .29JODI with no problems! Works like a charm! Thanks phpgeek! I alsolike the GUI change! It's not much but it does refresh it quite a bit. Thanks again! .30 is great!

I guess I spoke to soon, I had the same issue as some of you. After installing the Wii auto shuts off. I will be trying rev2 once I get home. Changelog does ssay it corrected these issues.

have you gone into the settings menu and set RETURN TO and AUTOBOOT to system menu instead of preloader?

try this
-load homebrew
-load wad manager
-if you're on 4.2 install IOS70patchedfreethebugs.wad (google for it, or check out xzxero's guide), if you're on 4.1 or 4.0 install IOS60patchedfreethebugs.wad (google, or install preloader 0.29 which will automatically patch this IOS for u)

-this should get your sys menu to work, I'm not sure why your SD cards aren't working, were they working on preloader 0.29?

ahh i got it to work by running homebrew channel, then running the preloader installer and uninstalling it, i've reinstalled preloader 0.29 and now i have to boot my system menu with IOS 249 for it to work, otherwise i get that weird the system files are corrupted message, i think i may have to just reinstall 4.2 and start over to get everything to work properly.
also for some reason my bootmii isnt autobooting... strange (boot2)

do you think this could have anything to do with my SD card being in FAT32 instead of fat now?

you're avoiding the "system files are corrupted" message because you chose any IOS other than your system menu IOS, IOS 70. All of your system menu hacks will not work unless you boot using the correct IOS.

To fix the files are corrupted issue. Reinstall IOS70patchedfreethebug.wad!!! System menu IOS needs to have the trucha bug and the ES_Identity bug in order to have preloader and the system menu get along.

right i'll install the IOS, just with wad manager, that okay
thanks for all your help everyone

didn't notice that last part until now... you say you have bootmii installed as boot2 and its not working???? That's weird! Make sure your SD card has the bootmii folder on it, with all the required files in it, and that bootmii.ini is configured to disable autoboot (boot to bootmii). Also make sure your using a compatible SD card before plugging it into the wii.

i'll have a look at my config file, i've reinstalled bootmii though and its still not working - however it did say it didnt overwrite the config file so i'll look at that
smile.gif

my config file looks like this, im not sure if its right or not...
CODE# BootMii config file

# Video mode, possible settings:
# NTSC, PAL50, PAL60, PROGRESSIVE
VIDEO=PAL60

# Autoboot, possible settings:
# SYSMENU, HBC
#AUTOBOOT=SYSMENU

# Autoboot delay, in seconds:
# Default is 5
#BOOTDELAY=5

where it says sysmenu shall i change that to bootmii?

.30v2 is still causing my Wii to shut down when attempting to autoboot a dol. USB Loader GX to be specific.

try replacing your code with the following (assuming you're video is on a PAL60, otherwise change "PAL60" to one of the following NTSC, PAL50, PAL60, PROGRESSIVE)

CODEVIDEO=PAL60
BOOTDELAY=0

changed, still doesnt work :L, i'm going to try the old 1GB SD card, but i'll be a bit pi$$ed if that works and the 2GB doesnt as im using the 1GB in the camera at the moment...
