I was looking at the route of finding the new memory address the menu is moved to and changing the appropriate line in the source and recompiling, basically wiipowers second thought. thats why i was looking for the titleid and memory location, it looks as though thats how menuloader interfaces with the sys menu and hence why it doesn't work with preloader.

If you have a PAL console, get the v290 version
those links don't seem to work anymore. no idea where else to find them. sorry.

step 1 (optional): Dump the hbc to computer, and repackage it with a different unused title ID (ouch) and install it
step 2 : Create a "menu patcher" wad with the official title ID of the HBC and install it.
step 3 : in the preloader menu, select autoboot HBC.

voila. works as it should. okay so i didnt test it. but it might work, it also might not.

Interesting,what's the response of the homebrew channel for this hack? Middle finger?

If I could only take a picture from each console tied in at #wiidev when they see something like that happen!

Any idea what the rescue diagnostic check does? Does it need additional software installed to do its magic? What's it for?

it checks if you have a "diagnostic disc" (that "gay fish" disc). with it enabled you can boot any disc. for example, if you bricked your wii you could load mariokart and reinstall the systemmenu to recover your wii. though, you must have an original copy of the said game. also, you could load twilight princess this way, to load wadmanager or whatever your "boot.dol" is.

Ok, didn't know the recovery menu was part of the system menu.
I figured for it to be a recovery menu it was part of the boot sequence somewehre before the sysmenu was loaded.

True, the update function is an unknown. But I do think it will only prompt you an update is available and the process itself is user activated.

I'd be a lot happier if Preloader did not check for updates - it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do with an app of this type...

It would boot quicker without it as well - maybe Crediar could change this to be an optional feature in settings?

I talked to crediar and asked him a few things.
preloader does not autoupdate, it does however automatically check for updates when you are in the preloader menu, once it found an update it will show a new menu option and once you select it preloader will download the changelog. Then you have the choice to update or to cancel.
It also uses threads for the update check, which means that nothing is slowed down.
When autoboot is enabled it does not check for updates.

so, in the hack.ini at the first post. there are duplicate entries, kinda.

[skip disk update new usa]
version=289
offset=0x813791A0
value=0x60000000
[skip disk update new usa]
version=289
offset=0x813791A4
value=0x60000000

each one shows up seperately in the system hacks screen. would i have to enable both of them for the hack to work. also, should i delete the hack.ini on the wii before i enable these or will the hack.ini just be overwritten?

oh, yeah. this program is super cool. i made a video http://www.sendspace.com/file/lcmkvn
its a .mod file. i couldnt upload to a site, its 105mb. lol

so this doesnt brick anymore?

sweet

oh! anyone know if i can patch error001 using the hacks.ini?

also,if i install the patches does it also affect the recovery menu?
