Someone mind telling me what the heck CIOSCORP is?

cIOSCORP is a collection of cIOS's all patched to ios249 that replace all of the existing IOS's even including IOS30 (the system menu ios).
Its done with the idea that changing everything to ios249 will make all games run from the disc channel without a backup loader , and it pretty much works well, though there are reservations about it due to the implications of what might happen when a new IOS is released and the possability of bricking when it updates.

*edit* - and ARM - you missed out on a great Coby moment recently - where the hell were ya ?

Currently Updating does not cause a problem. You can still hack your way back to whatever system configuration you want afterwards. Just takes the usual downgrade to System Menu 3.2 routine.

Let me rephrase that ..... Currently updating does not cause a brick! Always a problem when you update to realize your mistake then have to downgrade again. Not so much a problem as a pain in the ass.

Well, it was good to see you guys didn't give up while I was away at my job today... I think that was the only thing I could manage to do was hunt down the source for menupatcher..it was driving me nuts to not be able to figure out a little spanish

Someone mentioned a nice guide for this?? This would quite possibly just about manage to fit in with the CIOSCORP catetgory... if you think you have the confidence and patience to give preloader a try now... then just follow the steps in my first post... initially installing it is not the headache...it's experimenting with preloader and trying to get more hacks to work together with it. We are already having mountains to climb with cioscorp being in such an early state of the project and there is preloader.... And some of us have tried to sister the 2 projects together hoping to possibly enable the ultimate hack...which is obvious. So please refrain from asking silly questions for a tutorial on this or even cioscorp...you will probably get flamed... so I am just trying to be nice to you new guys and even the ones that have been around for awhile and have just returned from your wonderful holidays...

I am quite sure that once this has been accomplished (we hope like hell anyways!) that there will be a wonderful guide that even grandma can almost follow herself...if she could just figure out how to get the sdcard in the Wii !

Wouldn't it be better to make a preloader patch that makes the systemmenu use IOS249 like Gamma's rebooter or similar applications do?
see I asked that earlier and no one answered

Initially we were using System Menu patched to IOS249. It kind of made us nervous having system menu directed there as we felt more likely to accidently remove IOS249 than IOS30. Hence less likely to brick using it on IOS30.

EDIT: Ugh.... thought i was posting to the other thread again. I guess it's still pertinent for CIOSCORP installs.

We were working on that as well, but i think it dropped by the wayside when we realized we have better compatibility from altering all ios versus just forcing 249. I'm trying to get menu patcher working so we can have out of region loading of backups as the current region codes aren't affecting this, and i can't seem to translate the ones used in menu patcher/rebooter to work with preloader.

Using the system menu patched to IOS249, you still need to patch all the other IOS's unless you want to re-burn all your wii Games to also use the IOS249, Patching all the IOS's kills the need to re-burn all your 1:1 wii Backups, thats its purpose, Patching the System menu to use IOS249 was the every First Thing we had working

Talking on wiidev... now know the following about preloader

title/00000001/00000002/content/00000043.app < that is preloader right now
10000043.app is the system menu (renamed)

Hmm, then loading that content should work... let me give it a go...

edit: not worked... it's either not 10000043.app or there is something else that makes the menupatcher crash... possibly messing with the state flags...

On my PAL Wii it looks like Preloader is
title/00000001/00000002/content/00000046.app and the Sysmenu is now
title/00000001/00000002/content/10000046.app

Does this help you out WiiCrazy (I think you have a PAL Wii too)?

BTW I just found this scary error message for if the online update fails "INSTALL FAILED!!! Please run the preloader installer again, or reinstall the systemmenu! If you do not do that your wii is bricked!" - that gives it to you straight... The update part of preloader checks http://crediar.no-ip.com for a file called prldrvrsn.bin, then it checks for a changelog txt file if there's a new version available, then it's press A to update or B to cancel - so this confirms that it is an optional process.

Well I did a debug version of the app, even one that loads the system menu dol from sd card...
It does crash just at the beginning, no debug output...
So changing it in any way will not work...

There certainly is a problem with the preloader loading dols..

Noobwarrior's method seems to be logical... using the homebrew channel's title id for autobooting something else I mean...

@Wiicrazy, yeah... but isnt that dipping in the "wrong" sauce? as Team Twiizer's would throw a fucking fit!

not that i care...

Well for educational purposes you can dip into anyone's sauce...
anyways, crediar can implement that too, having a broad range of channel selection for autoboot...

While you guys dip into Team Twiizers' sauce (ooer)

I'm not giving up on Menupatcher.
I've managed to find exactly where the code is failing:
Code:
fd = ES_OpenContent(index);
which is in Sysmenu_Load()
This looks reasonably hopeful to me because its already successfully identified the system menu, got the TMD and the boot index (albeit that these may be WRONG for now but it did GET them)

I deleted my IOS30 again after I got back my Wii.
I thought it was safe, because I had preloader installed.

Same problem as before:
No screen.

On + Reset doesn't help.

Any possibility to repair it using preloader without sending it in again?
If not, maybe SaveMii?
