Pimp-My-Wii and DarkCorp are excellent utilities to mod your Wii, but both heavily alter the Wii file system an expect higher than normal user knowledge. Just look how Pimp-My-Wii left you with a stubbed IOS60 while your running SM4.0; good thing trumpet-205 caught that right away.

As you are a self described newbie, I would second XFlak's recommendation in using his well documented, newbie friendlier ModMii to overhaul your Wii at this point. Just be sure to read all the accompanying documentation

EDIT: PriiLoader is the successor to PreLoader. Read here for the differences.
I see the wizard guides, which one do I need to pick, obviously not the virgin one.
Don't follow the old examples of Custom Generated Guides. As XFlak says, they are examples only, and may be outdated. Instead, download ModMii and run it. It will ask you questions and then generate a custom guide for you.

If you want to reinstall IOS then use Modmii to generate IOS from System Menu 4.0. Then install them using MMM. Followed by installing System Menu 4.0U wad.

If you don't want to reinstall, then just reinstall System Menu 4.0U.
I am confused by this. Isn't that the same thing?
Yes, ModMii will update to the SM of your choice, one of the questions that will be asked. If you want you can update to SM4.3 as one of the options is to patch the SM so that the negative affects of SM 4.3 are rendered impotent.

I am using Modwii right now, where do I get to these "questions?"

Do I go to "H = Modwii wizard+ guide?"

Questions is a bad word to use, my mistake, they are more like options. If you need help with the options, what they mean etc... just as here or in the main ModMii thread. Also make sure you use the W option to begin with...Then the questions and options begin.

Edit: W=ModMii Wizard + Guide / H=HackMii Solutions
Are you using v4.2.8?

Yes. Now just follow the guide it generated?

Before you do, to put my mind at ease, can you re-cap what option you chose. But in general after you choose the options you want, yes, just follow the guide
biggrin.gif

I do want to see what options you chose because if you want to re-do all your IOSes, you should treat your Wii as a virgin, the YES option after choosing W.

I should go w/ the virgin route w/ the yes option?

There are Over 60 wads to be installed. Is this normal?

Here is off the guide I generated:

This Guide was generated using the following parameters:

* Wii is already modified
* Current firmware is 4.0U
* Desired firmware is 4.1U

* Download recommended cIOSs and cMIOS
* Download Yet Another Wad Manager Mod (YAWMM)
* Download IOS236 Installer (with IOS36v3351)?
* Download Priiloader
* Download Extra Brick Protection
* Update active IOSs

Yes, don't be scared over the number of WADs. An overhaul is an overhaul. Just make sure that the cIOS that it chose works with your current USB Loader, other than that you should be good to go. After you finish everything, post another SysCheck report to verify all is OK.

You should be okay with USB Loader GX using Waninkoko's cIOSs rev20 or Hermes v4 cIOS. Hermes v5 cIOS is not officially supported by USB Loader GX yet.

Do I need a specific one? I have used Wanin's before. Do you have a link?

If you never set USB Loader GX to use a Herme's cIOS (222,223,etc), then you don't need to worry about a thing. If you have set it to use a Herme's cIOS, then tell ModMii to use v4 of Herme's cIOS and not v5 or just install v4 afterward using the v4 installer (here's a good guide for that).

Last question. I'm getting ready to start. Do I need to use the wizard for a virgin wii (although mine is not), or should I do it as is? It looks as though I'll be replacing all ios's anyway.

Just go ahead with what you have, if you need to update any other IOSes afterward it will be clear in the SysCheck report. Just post a SysCheck report when your done.

Well, got it done, everything worked fine... but still, the original problem remains. Priiloader still cannot load HBC. I was not aware on the new versions of priiloader that you had to hold select... I was used to the old version where it was always there.

Any suggestions as to how to get priiloader to load hbc?

I did install bootmii (ios).

If I'm not mistaken, it does the same thing that priiloader would (allows you to get to hbc w/o loading the wii, to prevent/fix bricks).

I think I"m just gonna leave it at this. Unless you have any easy fixes.

If on 4.2 or higher, first enable the priiloader hack to disable the deletion of HAXX, then..

Download and Install this Wad
Dark HBC Forwarder by NeoRame- HAXX.wad

And all your old apps that call the old HBC will still be able to locate the newest HBC (this includes priiloader v0.4, or even preloader 0.29)

I am on 4.1U. Any suggestions?
