You don't need to uninstall it neither will BootMii overwrite Preloader. BootMii places itself in boot2 (if possible), while Preloader sits in front of the System Menu.

Yes you get two safety traps, but two totally different.

BootMii/boot2 gives the best protection as you can do everything to your Wii to brick it ... aslong as boot2 is left untouched.

Preloader puts itself inplace of Sytem Menu, so only if you reinstall System Menu Preloader would be gone and you would need to reinstall it. Also if you revert IOS60 to its original state, Preloader would not be able to start System Menu (correct me if I'm wrong please).

BootMii/IOS installs itself as an IOS and will only be able to load if you start HBC trough Preloader or via System Menu.

Sorry for hiking a ride on this one but I too have been wondering about bootmii and preloader,I have both Installed. bootmii on boot2 and backed up my nand to seperate sd card my questions are ,

1. Do I need preloader as my nand backup would solve all bricks right?

2.Is preloader more for system menu hacks rather than resolving bricks?(all I have used it for is to turn off health warning.

To be honest I'm a bit late with brick protection as I have updated to 3.2e from 3.1e(yesterday) and have hbc and cios13 installed and am using usb loader gx(most games work, even ghostbusters and Indy) so unless I'm missing something else I am probably finished.

Thanks in advance for any help given and I thank god that I have got this far without bricking my wii.

As long as you have verified that the nand backup feature works, you're fine as far as brick protection goes.

If you have boot2 bootmii then yea it's basically just for hacks.

And if you're not really gonna do anything else to your Wii it shouldn't really matter.

preloader 0.29 + bootmii\boot2 + bootmii\ios = Me. 3x protection, just to be sure.
Removed system menu? Boot bootmii\boot2. Banner brick? Time for preloader. not sure WTF u did, no sign of bootmii at power on, but at least preloader comes up? Time to jump into HBC and start bootmii\ios.
Me = Brick Proof.

I have a 4.0U with preloader .29 and installed Bootmii as an IOS b/c boot to was not an option. Ever since, I cannot load into the normal system menu. I can hear it but I cannot see it. Nothing but a black screen. Thanks to preloader I can get into HBC and then into bootmii but it will not work even with the power and reset buttons as controls. I am able to back into the system menu via HBC somehow and the wii works OK. Did I mess something up with the Bootmii IOS install? Can I uninstall it? Thanks.

Thing is , the videos work fine in the Edge Dev and Canary builds. But whatever the fix they made was, has never been pushed to Beta or Stable builds. Its been that way for as far back as I tested. Which was Edge 84. They are on 125 now.

@RedColoredStars, Yeah, and I was in quite a mood at that time. I would consider choosing Firefox or Opera instead, been using Firefox for over 7 years now than Chrome.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Tried contacting Nintendo to see if they can reach out to MS about it. But Nintendo said the videos are working fine. Without enough people saying no, they don't work fine, it will never get fixed.

I have Firefox and used it for many years. But Edge runs noticible faster on my pc at both opening and loading pages.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I don't think Nintendo will know anything about troubleshooting Edge. They mostly do technical support regarding their console family.

    Good one, Ken.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Right. But they could create a ticket that gets forwarded to the proper team. I think Nintendo would care that their videos aren't working on a major browser
