So PSS is checked too when used online ?
Online battles are fair game and there are no blocks against using unreleased pokemon/items (which doesnt make sense if they get stopped from trading.)

There was a youtube video of someone battling Diancie and AZ floette before their official release, if I come across the link I'll post it for proof.

A laptop is a portable PC technically making the software itself portable (still need a network connection to use.) Otherwise what did you mean?
A portable program means in dont need to be installed to be used. And for example since I have no PC or Laptop I can use it on the PCs on my College that I cant install anything on them cuz the Administrator and shit.

Well the Iv codes back and their a new update for the powersave a little glitchy at first for me keep refreshing for me don't kno if the Iv codes do work

Also their a I've codes for 1-10 on box 1 tried it on the 3 pokemon didn't see the I've changed on it

No the device is dependent on the program in order to receive the mods to the gamesaves. This isnt like the older devices that Datel had in previous game generations, sadly.

Hey guys, newcomer here. I made an account because you guys are very knowledgeable about the Powersaves - perhaps even moreso than Datel themselves. I say this because their FAQ might be lying in a way. Also, I have a question concerning the device that Datel's own FAQ might be wrong about.

Anyway, my question is: is an Internet connection needed to backup and restore cartridge saves? I've asked on Smogon and I was told that it is required. I've even seen some reviews on Amazon that state this as well. However, I keep asking because according to Datel's own website, an Internet connection is NOT required to do so. Check out their FAQ here: http://www.datelcustomerservice.com/?portfolio=3ds-ar-power-saves-pro

"Q: Do I need an internet connection to use the Power Saves software?

Answer:
Using the codes/saves features of the software will need an active connection to the internet.
Backing up and restoring personal saves from your game cartridges will not require an active internet connection."

There you have it. So, my question is: Do I actually need an Internet connection to use this? Even though others have said that it is required, but Datel's own website says it's not? I'm interested in buying the device purely for backing up and restoring my Pokemon Y save, not for the codes.

Please help me I reinstall the power saves software and this is what I get now
How can I fix this?

...

Then you won't need internet. Just like the FAQ said.

Not to be rude, but do you own the device? Check on Amazon and many of the reviews state that an internet connection is needed to backup/restore saves. If you can confirm that this isn't the case (and no Internet is required) then I'll believe you. But I've heard too many conflicting reports.

On the powersaves website it states that only Pokemon, animal crossing and Tomodachi need to have an internet connection to enable save backups!

Look like their a nature folder in the powersave but nothing in it so far has only one check that the Iv codes do work

While it does require a network connection in order to backup and restore, I don't understand WHY it's needed. It's not like your sending your save to some cloud storage, it's all done locally.

Are there any other methods available to backing up ones save? I'd rather not have a device that needs the Internet just to do that... I can only imagine that one day their servers might be down and I won't be able to restore my save anymore.

Believe me, I am fearful of this too.

There was a R4i backup device that was released near the beginning of the 3DS's life. That however got its compatibility shot down fast when Mario Kart 7 came around. Such a shame too.

As far as I'm aware this is your only choice to back up retail carts, for digital games it would simply be a matter of backing up your data from the SD card. I have faith that there will be a home brew method sometime in the future, I want region lock removed first and foremost though. Sorry for the rant.

unfortunately for some eshop games like pokemon backing up the SD contents is useless as the save is tied to the nand, so it knows if you have saved again since the last save, this is likely to prevent cloning pokemon easily, but it also means you cant just restore a save backup unless its a copy of your most recent save
