Gaming Possible without pandora?

I'm new to the psp hacking scene, and i need some expert advice please.

I've owned a psp 3000 for a while, and after being sick of not being able to get custom firmware, I bought an old white PSP-1000 from a friend. My only problem is it's on a higher firmware than he thought, 3.93. So is it possible to get custom firmware on this psp without pandora? and if so, what's the best solution?

There's a sticky around here about softmodding your PSP, give that a try if you haven't already.

Thanks, i've checked it now, but i don't quite understand. Will i have to upgrade the firmware to 5.03 before i can install a CFW or is there anything that will work with 3.93?

Yes you can hack it without a pandora.

Upgrade to 5.03 first.
