Nitpicking ? What ever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" I don't give a crap about boosting MS sales figures if it means they are going to degrade the future of Windows. What will be the next feature to become a victim of progress ?

One more annoyance, having to rifle through that updated control panel. Cause the XP one needed so much improvement.

or you know, they're updating things for more intuitive use?

superbar is so much more convenient than the old taskbar, integration of programs like itunes, steam, live messenger works wonders. along with being able to view whats in what window without having to actually switch over. using superbar right means much less clutter and sorting through windows.

and the control panel hasn't changed all that much from xp, a few new features, a few changes within categories. but if you want everything listed, you still have to change how its viewed.

I can think of a ton of ways xp is better than 7; that stupid thing where you try to highlight a filename and when you double click the filename to highlight IT DOESN'T HIGHLIGHT THE EXTENSION.
I for one love that feature. I rename my files more than I do my extensions. Makes sense to me. Why would you rename a .doc into something else that doesn't work? Or a .avi to to a .mkv? The only instance where I do rename the extension is where I was watching a video while it was downloading and it got stuck with the .part at the end of it.

And when you try to reposition a window, it automatically does what it thinks you want it to do, extremely annoying.
I can see usefulness in it, but I like my desktop arranged in a certain way, so I turned it off as well. People I know use it, but that doesn't matter, because I'm not them. Right?

Worthless features aching to get turned off like that areo crap, that stupid preview crap where it previews the thing your mouse is hovering over,
Previews are useful, though probably only because there is no more text in the task bar, though you can turn that back on... More like, I'd rather see my window than click through a cluttered taskbar looking for that other instance of Windows Explorer. Some people are more visual than others? Dunno. Maybe they should just rename their folders so they know which is which. I use the previews sometimes if I forget what I'm looking for though.

Though, I'd have to say this direction that browsers are moving in with the tabs in EVERY preview is quite annoying. While it works for a small amount of tabs, it doesn't work for 20+ tabs. That and for a small problem, it takes two clicks to get to the window you want, though I already double click to use Explorer as well as other various things in the super bar...
QUOTE(yuyuyup @ Jul 5 2010, 10:04 AM) Quick Launch getting turned off (you can put it back though, but of course 1st you have to find out yourself instead of it giving you a simple option,) etc.
I actually NEVER used quick launch. How I launched applications before? Probably start menu shortcuts or my desktop. I don't remember. But I know I really like the super bar and I can see why it's better than quick launch, since it acts as both a quick launch and a normal task bar. Not to mention there's jumplists as well. I also like the progress bars in the super bar as well. Super bar has more positives than negatives to me.

Why upgrade when I don't use some of the features? Well, I don't know. I'm not telling you to upgrade. I'm just telling you what I did. I gave it a chance, maybe you did too, but I like the changes. The ones that I got bothered about? Well Firefox doesn't do the multi-previews... YET.

EDIT:

One more annoyance, having to rifle through that updated control panel. Cause the XP one needed so much improvement.

Another annoyance I remember, it automatically refreshes your file-explorer window when a new file appears instead of collecting at the bottom or top, which is nitpicking I guess since this could be an advantage OR annoyance
I set Control Panel to "View by: Large icons" Good enough for me. Works similar to the old CP. Or... I just pin it to the super bar and use the jumplist for sound/visual/other settings, or type it in the search. No need to deal with confusing CP stuff. Oh, but they did rename IT to Programs and Features, which is more accurate to what it does, though I don't know what IT was called in XP. I've gotten far too used to it in 7. I remember I had a hard time finding it at first as well.

Now.. AUTO-refreshes folder? I have NEVER had that happen for me. In fact, I find it annoying that every modified/new file that appears goes to the bottom of the list when I set the folder to order by name/type/date/etc. They collect at the bottom.

EDIT 2: As for new features I like that I didn't get to comment on! I like the Libraries folders and Homegroups. Sharing is a pain when trying to get it to work with XP though. Also, instead of the tray icon list out to the left where all your task bar stuff is, it pops up in a small window. And you can choose to hide/show stuff by dragging stuff around in the tray icons.
