Nintendo is finally getting its act together with online voice chat.
unfortunately, only games releasing in the future will have WiiSpeak compatibility.

my question is, would it be possible for a HomeBrew app to somehow make voice chat with WiiSpeak work for older games (MKWii, CoD, Brawl, etc.)?

i know this is probably a difficult question to answer because the WiiSpeak Channel hasn't been released yet and so far only one game (Animal Crossing) uses the technology but speculation is most certainly welcome.

No it wont. To do that, you would have to edit the source code of EVERY game and add the functionality to it. If nintendo decided to patch agmes, it would be very likely that it would come around but really there is no way for homebrew to do it.

and it also isnt possible using something like 'rebooting with hooks' from gamma but then with WiiSpeak?

It would be pretty nice to have plugins like the PSP does. What they can probably do is, have a homebrew that'll load plugins from an SD card or something and then use rebooter so that the Wii restarts with those plugins enabled.
