I like how a bunch of people are bashing the guy for releasing the exploit this early.

Honestly, it's not a huge deal. A new NATIVE_FIRM is pretty much guaranteed to come with the MyNintendo update regardless. And lets be honest, do you really think Nintendo was going to update NATIVE_FIRM for the first time since the 32c3 slides were published (https://twitter.com/smealum/status/701548242060750850) without further attempting to secure the kernel?

It was probably a "wasted exploit" from the start. But hey, it's here so we might as well utilize it instead of making a big deal about when it was released.

fuck legit Cias, if you're going that route atleast have hard mod or arm9loaderhax installed. Also, why need legit cias, when you can just do everything on emunand.

Brain fart edit* I was thinking about people on sysnand firmware 9.3-10.3 with legit pirated cia games....

Yes. But MyNintendo is coming really soon. And we could still downgrade from 10.6 (even if it needed hardmodding).

Legit .cias will boot* on Sysnand... so we know if downgrading is possible

How does that work? If 10.6 can flash 10.2 native_firm, what's stopping 10.8 etc from flashing the 10.6 native_firm?

It only works if the native firm has an internal version number that is the same as the older native firm. Otherwise the other titles won't work with the replacement native firm. If they update the version for 10.7 and then don't update it for 10.8, you'll be able to downgrade 10.8 to 10.7 but not 10.7 to anything below.
