Nice! A more affordable alternative for my kids' TVs than the official dock. Still pricey for what is, essentially, a powered USB-C to HDMI convertor, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth (unless some other gift horses appear).

Well i bet we will see some cheaper docks in the future (unless Nintendo can block third party docks)
But for now, it's a start :)
No need to prevent 3rd party docks. There will always be people who prefer first party products. Madcatz sort of caused this mindset in people if you were a kid in the late 90s. :rofl2:

Nykoo' must be at their busiest during Nintendo consoles' infancy periods. I figure them as the MadCatz of this decade.

I'll wait for reviews, but this is definitely on my radar. I'd been paying attention to the people coming up with 3D printed docks hoping to find a decently portable one that was well designed, but this looks even better. Add in a D-padded left joycon and I'll be a pretty happy camper.

Does anyone know if either of the following has been confirmed:

Will this dock enable the use of any compatible charger? (non-nintendo branded, battery charging packs, etc)

Does this connect to TV (docked mode) WITHOUT requiring a charger?

I would like to just plug in hdmi, even if the battery wont last very long. Maybe i just want to connect to tv to entertain for like half an hour or so, or to just show off what the switch can do.

Also would like to use other charging methods than the nintendo power brick when in docked mode. Would be nice to know i only need to carry the usb-c cable when i know ill have several other methods to charge the device on the go.

It requires a charger but comes with one anyway, so put that original dock away and you have the original charger as your portable one!

Ah ill stick to the oem dock. This looks a bit cheap. Like the dollar store usb docks for cellphones. Plus i have nothing wrong with the oem one, but thats just me.

Speaking for myself, I'm interested in the portability of this dock. I want something I can throw into my Switch case and take with me.

Same, price aside, the Nintendo dock is a bit too bulky for my liking especially if travelling abroad where space is at a premium.

For a console which is aimed at being portable, I think Nintendo are missing out by not releasing a 'lite' dock or a dongle.
