I have a question about using JKSM. I can extract the save data to pokemon Moon just fine, I used PKHeX7 to edit some IV values and give me some Kanto Starters. I can inport the save just fine using JKSM. But the data always comes out corrupt. What am I doing wrong? If i import the original unedited main file its fine but the edited fille is always corrupt.

Well, maybe because those Kanto starter is unlegal so system detect them and delete your save or because pkhax fault
You should download lasted version to see if it help or not. There are new version just 36 min ago

CFW and Piracy are not a forced couple tho... you can easily have CFW without piracy. Whether you download and install games from other than official sources is completely up to you and not mandatory for the process of installing CFW

Unless you also include the fact that you're installing stuff for which leaked keys were required to work but then that is just hypocrisy because
- if you are American then running homebrew is voiding the anti tampering clause which means that just with homebrew you could technically get into legal issues
- if you are not American then Nintendo has their own "don't mess with out consoles" rules and they could still get you into trouble just for homebrew.

(They won't in both cases because they got bigger issues to attend to but that's beside the point because they also won't for CFW users)
Downgrading is illegal

Didn't know it was required for people to reiterate what has been said already. Sorry.

Still unanswered question...
Can we later edit S/M saves using old 3ds & homebrew?

If not, then I'll be later forced to downgrade & install CFW?

Sometimes following forums is hard because the conversation is so fragmented, so maybe someone can clarify:

1) What are we using to extract the save files from CFW (for instance from Gateway)?

2) What is being used to edit save files currently for sun and moon?

Hmm, new problem now...
Extracting saves is easy, but when I try to dump the save, it freezes. How do I fix this?

So, i'm a little confused. If i try to import my save file from my Pokemon Sun Cartridge using JKSM, will my Cartridge corrupt? I have an Old 3ds with 11.2, and i was planning to edit my save file once i get my physical copy today...but would i have issues if i do it?

I have this exact problem.

In fact, even when I use the original 'main' file to restore it still comes out corrupt. Unless I can restore I've lost all my progress ='(.

Is it true that only those who have a CFW can use PkHex and import/export their save files? i have homebrew access with JKSV, but no CFW...and it is a Old 3ds 11.2
Umm I don't have CFW, just homebrew only...
But I'm able to extract, edit, & dump my save back to my 2ds. And yeah I'm using the 11.0 version, and Steelhax.

EDIT: Although I've heard others also got JKSM working with SuMo with homebrew only...

Great! So, Pokebank is still needed to import Pokemon Sun savefile with JKSM or it is just now directly?...also, is everything working correctly with your cartridge? :)

I think we can do it directly too, no need for PokeBank if you're under 11.1, I think.
Well, it works on my 11.0 unit.
Dunno if it works for you, how about give it a try?

I'll do it once i get my game later today, but i wanted to make sure that my cartridge wont get corrupted since i've read some people who can't boot their games after trying to edit their save file :/...anyways, with everything you said, i feel more confident to do it now...i think there are some confusions here and there

Yeah I got a freeze on my first attempt, but maybe because I'm still using the outdated save manager instead of JKSM.

EDIT: It turns out saving at certain places before you'll edit your save are more likely to freeze you game than in other places.

Last edited by Princess Emily,
I haven't bought either of the games yet (nor have I got any form of either game on my O3DS XL), but I'm crossing my fingers that PKHex might get updated to work well with the USA carts of the games. But for that matter, has anyone here had any success with editing a save file and putting it back to the cart?

PKHex works currently in conjunction with JKSM and the original catridges.
