This thread is for my Pokemon OrAs Hacks, Rayless Ruby and Shadow Sapphire. These have been on Project Pokemon for a while, so I decided to put them here also. IGNORE THE THREAD NAME I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CHANGE IT

Rayless Ruby and Shadow Sapphire are rom hacks that I am currently developing. There are many changes to this game, including plot, wild encounters, trainer battles, and much more! NOTE: The current game only goes up to the 3rd badge, and the game will continue normally after that. I will link several tutorials to this post including how to install it on both gateway and hans, as well as updating the file without losing your save.

One of the main changes of this hack is the addition of shadow pokemon. Mysterious shadows from within the region are corrupting pokemon into shadow forms, making them more hostile, and giving them slight but noticeable stat boosts. Due to this corruption, pokemon with shadow forms do not have shiny forms, and each shadow pokemon also loses its secondary typing to gain the dark, or sometimes ghost typing. Now, you may think that this is OP to have in a game. I agree, which is why the shadow pokemon will always have 1%-5% encounter chance (with the exception of treecko, torchic, and mudkip), meaning that they are very rare to find.

There are a lot of evolutions that have also been changed. All of the trade evolutions have been made easier to obtain (so you don't need to trade), and a few other evolution methods have changed. I would list them, but right now they are one of the WIP parts that I'm still working on.

The overall game difficulty has been increased, giving trainers higher AI's and IV increases, and giving most trainers competitive items. To give you an idea of the changed level curve, the Elite 4 will be around lvls 70-80 instead of lvls 50-60, and the 3rd gym is around lvl 35-40 instead of 20-25 (the reason I used the 3rd badge for an example is that it's one of the main level curves in the game).

NOTE: It is recommended that once the full version (1.0.0) comes out, anyone that had previously played it play it again. There will most likely be changes to battles, some plot, as well as wild encounters. By 1.0.0 I plan to have all 721 Pokemon available without trading. Also, when you play this game, nuzlocke at your own risk. Nuzlocking is not recommended because then you wouldn't be able to see all of the shadow Pokemon that are available (Most of the Shadow Pokemon have 1-5% Encounter rates). This rom hack is made for all 3ds users, as long as you have homebrew access. There might eventually be a "pro" or "full" version for CFW only, but for now there will only be one version.
Edit to this paragraph: Considering that now most people that play cfw's are either on citra, or have a 3ds with a cfw, the "pro/full" version will most likely just be incorporated into the regular game.

Sorry That you've been waiting for so long! I've never gotten around to really trying to come back to working on this! I'm going to try to much more frequently (at least every day) so I can increase the frequency of these betas!

Known Glitches​
Some of the story text might be messed up; haven't been able to do a playthrough with the full story text yet.
The DexNav will crash the game on some routes! If you want to try to use the DexNav, save before turning it on and save before entering a new route or a new part of a route!

Beta 3
  • Added custom music over the trainer theme and the gym leader theme. More music will eventually replace other themes
  • Trainers, wild encounters, and rematches are complete up to the 3rd gym badge
  • Added a new form to an evolution line
  • There may be a future beta 3.5 that comes out with minor tweaks such as shop edits and trainer edits.
Beta 2.5
  • Fixed a lot of the levelup movesets, somehow the ones for Mudkip's line and Treecko's line got deleted, and I didn't notice because I chose Torchic on my test save.
  • Added encounters for Granite cave (no story added yet though)
  • Fixed the title for Rayless Ruby, apparently it was using the original bad title (didn't notice because I was playing shadow sapphire)
  • Fixed levelups for megas (shouldn't have been a problem though since the game only goes up to the second badge)
  • [Experimental] Ice types now resists ground, grass, and dragon and hits neutral on water.
  • [Experimental] Poison types are now super-effective against water and flying (pollution)

Beta 2
  • Added gameplay up to and including the 2nd gym (Not including the Steven cutscene). This includes wild encounters, trainer battles, and changes to the plot.
  • Added two new shadow pokemon evo lines
  • Added a new form to a pokemon
  • Redesigned the logos (apparently not the Rayless Ruby one, see beta 2.5)
  • Fixed Shadow Pokemon levelup not working
Beta 1
  • Added gameplay up to the 1st gym badge
  • Added several Shadow Pokémon
  • Gave Brendan and May new models from characters in previous games
  • Changed the dialogue of the characters
  • Changed Wild Encounters
  • Changed the original title to a new one (the title we have is WIP though)

Update: Can't figure out how to change the title of the thread so It'll have to stay like that for now... I'll figure out how to fix it eventually

yo @MegaKyurem nice job bruh I was planning to create a pokemon sun moon hack with shadow lugia and a WHOLE bunch of stuff but sadly i am unexperienced and player model can't be edited I have no idea what to write for storyline so yeah I gave up on the project for now planning to do a oras rom hack in the future got any tips and mind helping me build some type of new storyline and help editing models and character textures I have many surprises in-stored for this rom hack

News Flash: ORAS is dead, don't bother making rom hacks for it. Also, just rip textures with ohana3ds

um *cough cough* it's not dead people still play it like Rutile Ruby or Rising Ruby hmm and I tried using ohana3ds ripping textures I just need ideas to which pokemon I should edit (took me a week to make a perfect lugia and now I use it in every randomizer I play :D) and I want to edit player models textures and many other stuff to make the game way more interesting

OrAs alone may be pretty much dead but its rom hacks definitely aren't. Hacks of GBC still aren't dead (take Pokemon Prism) and the official GBC Pokemon games came out from 1996 to 2001. OrAs came out a bit less than 3 years ago, which is nothing compared to 15 years at the very least.

I'm not entirely that good at storyline or model editing, but texture editing is pretty easy. For most of the textures that I make I just use the selection tool to separate each different type of color on the pokemon into different layers, and then use the recolor tool on photoshop (Ctrl+U; I know it's also on paint.net but I don't remember the shortcut for it.) to change the color, brightness, and saturation until I get something that looks like a shadow pokemon, and then memorize that set of numbers to put it on the file for the mouth, eyes, etc. As for textures on models, I've only done simple recolors so far, but it's pretty much the same process except I'm not recoloring the entire thing.

Primal kyruem i made you a necrozma slash kyruem fusion for you so you can use it in oras and also sun and moon oh and i had to get the model for darkrai fixed by @lightstar2009 since i made it in blender he also made custom textures for it as well ok

well i'm currently working on a upcoming pokemon oras romhack called pokemon fusion ruby and Galatacal Sapphire @lightstar2009 is doing the models and textures now also i need a animation model maker and editor for it as well

Fantastic hack rom , but how to convert the RR-SS ROMFS into .Cia file?
YOu can't convert them unless you have ALL of the romfs, exefs, etc. You can use Luma CFW to use LayeredFS and layer the romfs over a Digital/Cartridge copy of the game.
