Hi guys. I have Pokemon Home (Basic Plan), and use it primarily with Pokemon Violet. Since Saves are not Cloud compatible, I will lose game progress when I get my Switch 2. I have been reading other sites/threads, and it seems that more people prefer to transfer over their Pokemon as compared to being able to transfer game progress. Has Nintendo said anything on if Pokemon Home will work with Switch 2, and if we can transfer Pokemon over to the game and new System? Also, I have heard that there might be a new version of Pokemon Home coming to Switch 2, but haven't heard any specifications yet. Thoughts and help appreciated :)

Pokemon Home doesn't support cloud saves because it has its own account system. I'm fairly sure you have to link it with your Nintendo account when you first sign in, so using it on other devices just entails you doing the same on a second device. There should be no issues.

Edit:
Pokemon Home actually does support cloud saves lol, the more you know. I guess it just stores your basic login details or something? But yeah I'd be shocked if there were any issues on Switch 2.

I'm pretty sure that I haven't been asked for any other accounts than a Nintendo account when using HOME? Not even a NNID is used when transferring as you have to generate a code on your Switch and use it on your 3DS to transfer.

Yeah reading back what I wrote I worded that poorly. I more was trying to say that cloud saves wouldn't be that important for something like home because all your data is stored server-side tied to your Nintendo account.

Thank you for the info! I meant that game saves for Pokemon Violet/Scarlet are not supported by Nintendo's Cloud Save service as far as I know. I am not very far in Violet, and would much rather keep my Pokemon instead of game save progress.

A console to console transfer (or the variant with the Nintendo Servers) will always transfer all saves. Not sure about animal crossing though, because that one is a special case.

But anyway: Your Pokemon saves will carry over
