Gaming Pokemon - Hacking the Sprites

Hey guys! I was wondering if it is possible to upload your own sprites (ex. Mewthree) unto a DS cartrdige using a program + AR or R4 DS and then edit pokemon intensly. im not looking for some pokesav stuff, but something different to change the sprites of pokemon! thanks!

Oh and adding an entirely new pokemon is a fair feat as opposed to editing an existing one if that is what you were angling for.
