Pokémon Gold and Silver 3DS virtual console games to get boxed release in EU

IMG_3673.JPG

In the last Nintendo Direct, we were given the announcement that the GameBoy Color classics, Pokémon Gold and Silver would both be getting the virtual console treatment on the Nintendo 3DS. The games would also support Pokémon Bank, allowing for players to transport any creatures caught into the modern games. However, Nintendo of Europe had a curious Tweet today, showing off physical versions for these games. Stylized to look just like their original boxed release, both Gold and Silver will be sold on store shelves. As to the contents of the box itself, the only thing inside is a 3DS e-Shop download code and some stickers. This has only been announced for Europe at the time of writing, and doesn't appear to be scheduled for America.

Update: They're 9 pounds per game, one copy each limited per consumer.

Also - People here realy was thinking that we will get a game cartridges in this release?
Like, realy - The games are so small that probably the smallest 3DS cartridge could contain 100 copies of it along with the whole VC emulator, so it would be a gigantic waste of space. Not even couting the fact that it would raise the costs of production, making the already overprized product way too expensive.

It's a shame that there's no cartridges, but it's a shame that humans can breathe in space. Both these things are as much realistic.

Splatoon on the WiiU only used 1GB of the disc while the disc as a whole had 25GB. This comes down if companies want to release it on physical format or not, not that "how small is it?" question.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
