His canon name in the English version of the games is Blue. If this is a HG/SS sequel then naming him Gary just doesn't feel right.

Also, Blue/Green > Gary. Deal with it.

EDIT: I also think the girl should be named Green, but whatever.

In Japan, "Gary" is Green and the girl is Blue.
Everywhere else, Gary is Blue and she is Leaf.
Since we are talking in English and I haven't seen any Japan users, Blue and Leaf are pretty much the way to go.

I was going to name the Male Blue, but I wanted to avoid this Green/Blue nonsense (Guess it didn't work) so I named him Gary.
When I found out some people wanted him to Blue, I decided to create a poll.

Gary is winning so far, and whatever name is highest after I release the second beta is the name to stay.
Personally, I hope it stays on Gary, because if it goes to Blue, I'm gonna have to do A LOT of text changes, again. @_@

Is there no way to set the rival name as a constant variable that you call in text, so you just change the constant which changes all instances in the text?

I wish, but sadly no.
If you could though, it would make text editing a lot harder, though ^^"

That sucks. :( I wanted Blue because it's the game version, not the anime. It just kind of pisses me off because I love story continuity (You should've seen my Zelda timeline)

So you love story continuity?
Well that's something we have in common, since it's the reason I made this in the first place ;)

Heck, wouldn't be a bad idea to make 2 versions lol. Maybe the Blue one is LeafGreen 2 and Gary is FireRed 2, or just make 2 FireRed variatons, I don't know, lol.

Lol.
Well, i'll give you the quickest tut possible.
Get PPTXT, get the 002 and 003 narc files by loading your ROM with NitroExplorer, open them up with PPTXT,
and scroll through the drop-down box to select a page. Edit the text in the text box.
Sounds simple, but it takes a LOT of time ^^"
