heres exacally what he said when i asked him what happends when you turn it on
he says "it says it cannot read the file"
Dude... He's got a lot of crap on that card that doesn't need to be or shouldn't be there.
Listen, he's the one who owns the R4. Thousands of us have been downloading and installing kernel updates without problems. He's a tool. Especially for making it your fault.
Okay, first tell him to make a backup of his entire card to the harddrive on his computer. Then if what we tell him to do makes him unhappy he can restore it to its current inert condition.
After the backup, format the microSD card. Full format, not quick format.
Extract the entire contents of the 1.12 kernel to the card and see if it boots.
If it works, have him copy his files and folders from the backup to the card a few at a time until it does what he wants. With the exception of the themes, he shouldn't overwrite any existing files when he does this. If it doesn't work, have him download a differnt copy of the firmware and extract it again. That's probably not the problem. If that archive was corrupt, it wouldn't extract successfully at all. But it couldn't hurt.
Finally, get out of the middle of this. Obviously he has a computer. Have him come here for help himself instead of sticking you in the middle.
