If your using a flashcart then you can easily change it using r4cce and you can select the combination of buttons to press to start the cheat.
Also like 5 year running ds phat awesome l and r buttons.

How do I do that? I'm using the official editor not that one. I need to know now.

Might better get some crazy glue on that hinge. It could get worse. Also, I don't use the buttons much myself. Just for the AR cheats.

when you open r4cce and click on a cheat it will have a bunch of check boxes with all the nds buttons and you can select whatever you want.

I saw what you mean but some of them won't let me modify them. There's an add button and a modify button to make adjustment. Not all of them work.

Anecdotal evidence, but I have two DSes (a Phat which was bought like 2 months after release and a Lite) and the L and R buttons still work perfectly on both. In fact, the hinge on my Lite has gone crappy/floppy but the L/R buttons still works perfectly.

Also, it's not that hard to learn to modify the activators manually if you don't like the triggers.

Dude, I still use my phat that i got back in 2005 and everything on it works fine! Everyone I know that still has a phat's hinge broke like 3 years ago but mines still kk, so i guess i just take good care of my stuff.

Was it the right hinge? Because the same thing happened to me, but the thing still works PERFECTLY. My R & L buttons on those never neede any work, and I never had to blow (

) in the buttons either.

Well, it's a commonly known problem that the DS Phat and Lite's L and R buttons don't really work after a year or so. This is the case for me and all of my DS-using friends.
I seriously have to wonder what some people do with their DS' to get the buttons so horrible.

Do you eat peanut butter with your fingers while playing or something?

This. I've got a launch day NDS Phat, and a launch day Lite. L&R are still working fine.

A while back when the dsi was launched i heard about the l/r being really bad, and breaking within like 2 weeks. Anyone know about that?

I know how to do it but this is what happens: R4cce usrcheat

If your LR buttons have problems, all you need to do is change the rubber pads.

On my DSL, I have opened a few so far... yet to see any rubber pads...

I have replacement buttons, but they are SO DAMN TINY. Don't want to risk borking the ds... not too bad at soldering, but I am nowhere's near considering myself a pro..
Don't change the rubber pads yourself if you aren't confident, take your NDS to the local game shop and have it fixed.

Don't have any local game shops near me except for GameStop, who doesn't do that kind of stuff.

Considering putting a dab or two of crazy glue on the buttons to raise the surface a bit, maybe that will help. Eventually though, I will replace them.

This. I really wanna know how this guy abuses his poor DS.

What I find interesting is that I've had a DSphat and a DSlite (both bought around the time of their launch) and I have yet to break a shoulder button on any of them. I don't doubt that people DO have problems with those buttons, but what am I doing so right that others are not, I don't know.

The problem I've having with my DSlite is that the rubber contact pads under the buttons are wearing out, but my shoulder buttons still work perfectly. It's just kinda intriguing to me that so many have shoulder button issues and I never have.

I owned a phat DS and slim, for years and never had a problem with L and R. Some of my nephews have, 3 of them I think. Maybe some people are too tough with the DS? I guess it would also depends on what games you play and if they make you pound on those keys.

you guys know that the first line last 8 bits contain the activator code?
You can change EVERY AR code yourself, by changing the first line. The code specifies the buttons needed to activate the cheat, do some googling, you will find what you're looking for.

AR trigger codes is what you're looking for

replace the first line with
94000130 fffb0000
and you will use SELECT to activate. it's that simple
94000130 fdbf0000
is for L + UP

eh, didn't feel like reading the whole thread, so i just threw down some relevant information.

If any post on this site here could be like that, oh boy would we all have a blast

and as long as people are still whining about this i still feel the need to repeat this information over and over, so it sinks in good.
