If you have a slim PS2 thats softmodded, you can put a regular PS1 game in the system, and at the old-school "PS" logo, take the original game out and swap it with a burnt CD, works every time. Try to do it quickly, as you have to do it while the disc is spinning.

I do what the above poster does. Softmod the PS2 put in a PS1 normal game disc then when the ps1 logo appears quickly swap the discs around and close the disc tray and it should be playable pal or nmtsc or softmod then by swapmagic discs

You just buy SwapMagic 6 + Codes, i think is the latest version.

or

You can exploit the memory card via the fmc/mem1 hack, i cant remember its name 100% but it on here if you search somehow for it. You might be lucky & someone might remember it now that i brang it up.

If you block off the corner on the slim that tells it it's open and also the one inside you can swap and real game for a fake at the ps1 boot screen on a slim ps3.

i wouldn't recommend that swap. there is a psx launcher program, but you need to have an original disc and swap.
the guy who is made esr will be working on an emulator (check out the psx-scene forums, i dont have a link off hand)
