Hacking PLAYING GAMES OFF A EXTERNAL HDD

I have a HEN jailbroken ps3 it’s 40 GB

I have a external 2TB MBR EXFAT HDD

i don’t want to install games on my ps3 but want to play them off and on my hard drive

is this possible? if soo how? do i use PKGs or JB folders or ISO files?

You can play JB and ISOs (PS3 and PS1 but not PS2) from external HDDs.
You cannot play PKG from external HDD - They have to be installed to the internal HDD.
Also, even if you play from an external HDD, you'd still be using some internal disk space due to game updates, and of course, there are games like GT5, that force you to install them to the internal HDD when you first run them. These can also not be played directly from the external HDD.

Keeping the original 40GB HDD is pointless imho. Sony made it extremely easy to replace the drive, not even having to open up the case. Just switch it to a 1T disk and your problems will go away.
