Hacking Emulation Hardware Play DDR (and alike) without Mat, but using Wiimote?

Hey there folks,

I've been searching the Web quite thoroughly almost all morning now, trying to find an answer to following issue:

"Is it possible to play games requiring a DDR Controller by using the WiiMote instead - somehow/anyhow emulating a Mat or making the Wii (or the USB Loader) believe the WiiMote was one?"

I mean, basically the WiiMote's got more than enough Buttons …

I hope someone here can help me with this.
