They said it was in development for Wii, but when Miyamoto saw the Wii U's beautiful HD graphics and sexy new controller it was decided to move it into it. He also said the Wii version was far a long in development so it shouldn't take long to be released.

Confirmed at the Developers Roundtable, we'll get written sources later. Check the IGN or GameSpot live blog if you want an 'official' confirmation right now.

I already expected Pikmin 3 to be moved to the WiiU, I was doubting the game would be part of the Wii's swan song, with Skyward Sword and Kirby coming out already.

He emphasizes that Nintendo hasn't really officially announced any titles for the Wii U. The corporate side wants to stick to the company line, but personally he just wanted to announced Pikmin.

BTW.... this roundtable was all about japanese developers... when we gonna heard about NOA localizations???

If the fact that Luigi's Mansion 2 is NOT being developed by a Japanese developer wasn't enough, you could just go to Nintendo's E3 site (or the well, dozens of gaming websites) and know that a bunch of DS games are being localised, like Professor Layton 4, or DQMJ2 >_>.

I've been waiting the Wii's entire life for a damn Pikmin 3, and now it's gonna be on the NEXT console? Odds are I won't care anymore by the time it's released.

This makes perfect sense.

The new controller will be astounding for ordering around Pikmins!

Great!

But I'll do say this, the Wii was robbed from Pikmin and F-Zero, 2 great titles that never made their mark in the Wii market. It's so sad Nintendo...

They can't make every ip appear on a console. I'm happy with what they had and will have, metroid, mario, zelda, kirby, smash bros, etc. It's a big ask to get every nintendo franchise on one single console so it's expected really. Personally I think the Wii's gone on long enough in it's cycle so I'd rather see those games with 1080p graphics and a new play style.
