PictoDS Crashes When I Open It

I tried using PictoDS to convert a my comic books to .cbds files so i can read them on ComicBookDS (A DS app for reading comics and manga) but whenever I try to run the exe file, it just shows a loading icon by my cursor then nothing happens. I have tried running this as admin and nothing different happeened. I also tried running the linux version on my main debian laptop as sudo which just says that java is not installed even though it is.

Any help would be great!
P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I just thought it would fit here the best because it's DS related.

can't tell for sure, but maybe Java JRE 7 x86 could be more compatible here.

I installed even older one and it works, It's pity that you have to create account to download Runtime Enviroment now.
Older software is more open to exploits and malware... so maybe inside of virtual machine to isolate. I installed on my local machine anyway. https://archive.org/details/java-se-runtime-environment-6-update-33-windows-32-bit
Converted some images and it opens and works fine with ComicBookDS and DSi.
