Homebrew RELEASE pFBA: final burn alpha

Hey yall, went to sleep after I posted. Off the topic, I'm a gen x person. I know emulators are different, I have been using emulators since 1997 when I stumbled upon them.

On topic: The only reason I asked is because the vita version of pfba had these button combinations, but I tried to do them on this, and they weren't working. I stumbled upon loading savestates by pressing start (plus) and L, so I wondered if anyone knew others. There are some games like TMNT 2player that you can pick your turtle, but you have to stay with that turtle the whole game. Its not like say Xmen, when you can change your character during gameplay when you die. Not a big deal but hey, variety of color swapping is nice. I tried searching this whole thread, yes I found the neogeo stuff, but that isn't what I was looking for. I googled, and found nothing. Sorry I annoyed you with asking a question in a forum post regarding the emulator in question /s

maybe everything is emulated so well, it's like being at the cabinet--you'll "need" to "stand" at a different "joystick". So I guess maybe a hack or a bunch of controllers could work?

Yep, I suppose so. Might as well use the parent rom for 4 players

When I insert the joy cons into the grip it switches to 2 players automatically, is there a way of disabling this so I use my grip?

Not currently, but this behavior has to stop being "default".

In the beginning you could do it prior to launching pfba and the 2p tiny controller switch would not happen, but then that got changed somehow.

Default detach action should always be remain in 1p bluetooth setup.

Just thought I'd share a figure-it-out thing for people trying to get Genesis/MegaDrive games working on Pfba, but feeling an abject failure:
"tronik of the game" has a list of FBA Gens/MD in the near-correct format (still have to add the corresponding prefix) for you, in .zip. You'll have to click once, find the top treasure, Do the Load.

Duckduck it and you'll have some classics ret2go.
For the love of tinfoil+tape, please, use your noggin noodle--I made it pretty simple.

Cool I had seen so many videos on youtube already and will surely give this a shot once my rcm jig finds it way to me.
One shame though that Megadrive, Genesis and Master System roms need to be prefixed in a certain way.
Is there a tool which can automate that proces?

Nah dont rush things on my behalf really. My jig should be here roughly in two days.
But nice to know we wont have to go about approaching that in a manual fashion.

Its like one line in dos to rename all 1000+ files. Don't they teach the basics in school?

for %%a in (*) do ren "%%~a" "md_%%~a"

How would I add say md_ to the names of multiple files on Windows 10?

I get it probably a one line command or something but I have searched and the only thing I could find was to just change all file names not to add md_ to an existing file name.

Well, i have fixed the consoles roms, they now don't need the prefix anymore, but they must go in theirs respective folders (sms, gamegear, tgx...).
Now the problem is i have a new crash on a lot of roms (neogeo, cps3..) so it may take longer than i thought .... :/

Until the new release that doesnt need the prefixes anymore - use a "Mass Renamer" (Google).

In my early days in Windows I used a Filemanager named "Total Commander" that also came with that feature. It is Freeware, and I can recommend using it. Its just more "potent" than neccessary for the task.

(Its also much better to work with than the Windows Explorer, but thats just a side effect. )

For people that grew up with gui programs only - use that.

edit: Changed the name of the recommended filemanager to the correct one..

edit2: For people whose files do not have the correct filenames in general, apparently there are database programms out there, that check the roms by hash, and rename them to the individial filenames used by fba. I havent used them, but others mentioned them before.

Great idea to devide up all the different consoles in there respective folder as to clean up the pFBA roms folder a bit. Make it easier to navigate through rom files for pFBA.

Can I just say thank you to everyone in this thread who pointed out the file naming convention to use roms with PFBA. Been banging against my wall trying to run some master system games and finally got them to work after mass prefixing them with "sms_"

Hold power button for 15 seconds, it will power off. Your switch went to sleep mode. Make sure to enter the main menu by pressing any button 3 times after you inject payload and your switch is booting past the logo otherwise it will go to sleep in a few seconds.

Yeah I am dumb and forgot to run it with hekate, works like a charm, but getting a lot of Driver Init errors with some games.
