Hi everyone,

currently I am archiving my WiiU Data. I wanted to know how I shall store my data.
Looking into the no-intro database (https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=download&fun=wut) everything is stored as packed/encrypted data packages.
My question if it does make sense to store the data in their unpacked/decrypted forms (meta, content files)?
I would like to store my data so that I can verify my dumps (also in the future) with dats from no-intro or redump.

Any advise would be highly appreciated.

Just leave encrypted if you plan on Archiving for actual WiiU.

Compressing with 7z for example does not gain much smaller like this because I imagine it already compressed in Wup Installer Format not sure if Decrypted will have different result but worth a try.

If your planning on Archiving for CEMU then you could try as I mentioned I compress at best Compression 256MB Dictionary Size The Higher you can the greater Compression but you need a lot of RAM to do so 16GB 256MB I need more RAM to go higher.

Anyway good luck I have been doing the same Backup of Backup Good Practice.

Thanks a lot for the advice. You are fully right 7zip does not gain much more space.
But decrypted games are much more smaller than encrypted versions.
Looking at the code, content and meta folder, the size is sometimes half of the encrypted app files.

As far as i know, the problem is that if you decrypt WUP and keep only the unpacked format for CEMU : if you uninstall some games from your Wii-U, you won't be able to install them back (you'll need to use Loadiine GX2 to play the game previously copied on your SDCard).

The issue is that no-intro is collecting the files as "app" (encrypted) versions. However if you want to use the game on the WiiU or CEMU you have to decrypt it to get the meta, content, code folder.

But there is no convient way to either encrypt or decrypt games. If an application would be available to encrypt and decrypt eShop Games it would be awesome. But this is missing at the moment and makes archiving WiiU Titles a mess.

This is very late, but I just came across this post. I'm sure others will as well at some point.

You do not need to do anything with .app / .h3 files to use them on the Wii U. This is where you would use WUP Installer GX2 with your game in a folder within SD:\install\[gamefolder]\ .app|.h3|.tik, etc. This will allow you to install the games from your SD to your System NAND or a USB device (if formatted for the Wii U.) Code/content/meta for Wii U usage is only needed for Loadiine GX2 -- alternatively, Cemu.

For Cemu, needing code/content/meta, you would use CDecrypt2.0b and you place this in the folder with your .app|.h3 files. You then open a command line window in this directory and run the following command to decrypt the game title into the code/content/meta folders (keep in mind you need double the storage space for this endeavor.)

CDecrypt2.0b: Click Here

Command: .\CDecrypt_v2.0b.exe .\title.tmd .\title.tik

After decryption completes, your code/content/meta folders are ready to be put into a folder labeled after the game, to be used with Cemu, and stored in your Game Directory that you set in Options > General Settings.
