Hi! I was wondering if I could use my Gateway to install a permanent Homebrew Channel on my brother's 3DS so that when he does a hard reset, he can continue using the channel to run ARM11 homebrew without the flashcart.

Does it exist? I heard it's possible with VC/eShop titles at least.

    Thank you for your time!

It's probably possible, however it does not currently exist.

The problem right now is that while the channel will run, the code which actually loads the .3dsx files is still hidden until Nintendo patches out ninjhax. So it wouldn't work even if you tried.

Do remember that you can dump and decrypt the save and get the actual binary. You may not have a source, but you could find it, rip it, and disassemble it in IDA Pro.

Basically, ninjhax isn't just an ARM11 code exploit where it loads a boot.3dsx and that's it. It has to do a lot of stuff behind the scenes (AKA a system exploit which CAN be patched, and is actually what this entire exploit relies on to work), which includes the ability to mark various ram pages as writable and then executable in order to load .3dsx files into RAM and actually execute them (since stuff from the SD card can't just be executed there, it has to be mapped to memory and made executable by the system core). Since this is actually a patchable exploit, it is simply a .bin file downloaded from smea's server which then installs the exploit to the cubic ninja save and that's the end of that. However, smea has said that he would release the source code to this bin (and reveal and document the entire exploit) once it is officially patched by Nintendo.
