A couple days ago, I downloaded a Windows update on to my PC. After installing the update, the colors we're all messed up. Here's some screenshots from my video on YT about it:

So I started off by uninstalling the update. That didn't fix the problem. I tried reinstalling graphics drivers, rolling back to old versions, etc. Nothing software related would fix it.

A lot of the time colors like this could be because of corrupted ram, so i removed one stick at a time to see if it was one of those. It wasn't; the problem remained. Next, I was going to completely reinstall windows since it probably was a software issue, since everything worked fine literally the second before restarting my PC after the update. I inserted the USB with windows on it, as I've done a thousand times, but this time when pressing the key combination to boot into bios, nothing loaded and it hung on a black screen. So I removed the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes to try and reset the BIOS, since it was probably corrupted or something. That didn't fix it. Actually, it made it worse. Now I can't even boot into BIOS or windows. No matter if I press buttons or not, it always hangs on a black screen.

So what should I do now? Ive tried everything i can to fix it, but it won't work.

Specs are:
Ryzen 5 1600 CPU
ASUS Prime B350 Plus motherboard
16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz RAM
GTX 960 GPU
500GB SSD as boot
Windows 10

I'd recommend stripping your pc down to just the basics, so removing your graphics card and trying to run it though the on board graphics would be a good step at this point

So I finally got it to boot. I reinstalled Windows and everything works fine. But the Windows update problem is still happening. After installing the fall creators update, the colors are all messed up again. Like before, reinstalling graphics drivers doesn't fix it. This is obviously a software issue at this point. My GPU has always worked fine and it only happens as soon as I install the fall creators update (update 1709 I believe it is?). So does anyone have any suggestions, other than simply not installing it? I like to stay up to date, so I would like to install it if possible..

Buy a new GPU, preferably a different brand. Since you are using Nvidia now, try getting an AMD GPU. If that doesn't work, try upgrading to an Intel CPU.

Check your HDD/SSDs for any errors

No, my GPU is fine. I'm not upgrading it, and using Intel HD graphics is the last thing I'm doing

did, there's no errors

.
ONCE I 'VE GOT SAME ISSUE, then i resolved it after i updated graphic card's driver...
usually that would solve it, but for me, it didn't

I would just start by completely uninstalling your video card and rebooting to let windows try to figure it out. If that doesn't work try installing generic drivers, the basic of basic drivers. Most video cards will work fine abeit at a lower resolution. Do this for testing. If you boot up in safe mode how does the video look?

So I've pinned down the problem. Any version of Nvidias drivers causes the screen problems. Uninstalling the drivers and not reinstalling them or using a different version works. I've went back a long way to try and find a version of Nvidias drivers that works, but none of them do

3 step solution
step 1 delete win 10
step 2 install win 7.
step 3 profit

Could be a faulty GPU. Not using Nvidia's drivers means you're likely running without hardware acceleration, and if hardware acceleration is the thing that messes it up it could be a faulty GPU. Or it could be some weird driver issue/incompatibility with the fall update.
The fall update is still pretty new, so maybe try living without it for a couple months while you wait for Nvidia to release a fix.

My gpu is fine and always has been. It's the update. as you said, it probably has driver incompatibilities. I'll wait and see if they fix it

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.

i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image

but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
