would i get surround sound gaming from the xbox360? dont care about the microphone just want 7.1 or even 5.1 (preferabbly 7.1) gaming on the xbox and pc under $100. and this headset is $92 , subbosedly really good and i already have all the audio accesories and vga cable so yer. curious if this would work?

It can work without much difficulty, but I wonder... Have you tried just plugging it in directly? Since most USB devices are plug and play, why wouldn't it work for 360?

EDIT: never mind that, only USB headsets by Microsoft work vis USB. So back to the original question, yes it should work through your PC. You just need to use the 360 sound as line in and redirect the audio stream in your PC to the headset. Which I imagine is what the guide says (I don't have time to look since I'm getting ready for work at 7am in the morning).

I Found it it would only produce out stereo because theres only a L-R Channel and would need a optical connection to get surround soo:

= Everything I need for virtual 7.1 Surround Movie Viewing & Gaming through the xbox 360 and PC correct? (seeing as though i have a Optical S/PDIF out port on the back of my Asus P8Z68-LE) upon ggogling the audio chipset on this motherboard supports dolby digital :)

is this theory correct? :D

if not could one recommend a good 7.1 surround sound headset under $200 for the Xbox360/PC via Optical Toslink? thanks.
