A long time ago I had a F2A and I seem to remember needing to patch certain games with certain save types (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance comes to mind), like they'd work until you wanted to save.

I looked here and in the USA EZFlash forums and found nothing regarding certain save types not working with the EZIV. Is this a good assumtion, or am I missing a huge long list of save types that need to be patched?

All GBA games need to be transferred using the EZ IV client (even when using the EZ V with expansion pack). When you transfer the game make sure the checkbox for "save patch" is checked. That assures that every transferred game works just fine.

None will work without using that software on the EZ series, so there's really no point in thinking about specific games.
