I keep reading how passcards consume a lot of battery life, so I was just wondering how much in comparison to playing a regular DS game or using a flashed DS. I'm mainly talking about the newer passcards too, like the Passkey3. Has anybody done any comparisons on this sort of thing?

Yeah, I keep reading this information.

Maybe it consumes more battery 'cause the DS is using two slots (GBA and DS) at the same time?

A good option is use flashme on your DS.

But that is one thing:

If I flash the DS, I must insert a original DS game to use the sleep mode. Will the the Flashed DS + Original DS Cart consume less battery then the DS using NoPass/Passme device?
I dont know.

How do you people know passcard's consume much battery??

Passcards is only a DS booter, nothing else. Once you boot into the DS, you can remove the Passcard, and still load DS games.

If the passcard actually keeps on drawing power while it's in the slot, then just remove it once G6 is loaded up. After the G6 is loaded, you don't need the Passcard to boot the games.

Ok, to end all this crap about Nopass devices VS flashed DS's here is true results from ImmortalNinja on scdev forum:

Ok did a proper test this time with all the same settings.
And it clocked in at 4hrs 22Mins.
So in summary so far:

All using the same SuperCard MiniSD and the same battery leaving SuperMarioKart
Full Brightness and max vol through headphones:

UnFLashed DS
Orginal Cart: 5hrs 10Mins
SuperKey in DS Slot: 4hrs 15Mins
SuperKey Removed: 4hrs 22Mins

FLASHED DS
DS Slot Empty: 4hrs 20 Mins
DS Slot with Cart: 4hrs 24 Mins
Using SuperCard Lite: 4hrs 24 Mins

So I conclude that having a flashed ds or superKey makes bugger all difference to battery life during normal play...for my DS.
I'm quite sure it makes a difference to the sleep mode though.
Not sure how I'm going to test that unless the difference is significantly different.....

KK

edit - Not as controlled as I would like, but I guess I could put the DS in sleep mode over night and then see how long the battery lasts coming back to the game in the morning.

Enjoy,
