meh, i hacked together this app in about 25 minutes. it essentially turns the wii off to Red (Standby), so WiiConnect24 isn't running, and so ninty (if they ever chose to) couldn't update the System Menu without us knowing.

Isn't it easier to go to the options and disable the standby connection? Or use that one priiloader hack that forces the console to fully shut off even with WC24 enabled?

Also, from what I remember, the console isn't even capable of updating by itself. I thought we got over these autoupdate scares 2 years ago.

Disabling the standby connection also disables the News Channel, Weather Channel, Nintendo Channel, Shop Channel, etc.
If you use this program, it disables the standby connection while allowing access to those channels.

Dont give the man a hard time. He made something out of his own time and learned something by it and wanted to share to anyone who might find it useful. I have seen apps like this a few times before, but who cares. This person is trying to learn and we certainly need more coders in this community, even if they do start out shallow.

I'm sure you all gonna bitch at me when I make my first .dol that display's "hello world" (compiled using the example source code), but fuck any one else because I learned something and it worked.

Since when? I know 100% for a fact that shop chan works fine with standby connection disabled. AFAIK the news (& possibly weather) is the only channel that actually requires standby connection and WC24 to be enabled.

And who uses those?
