    At http://opendorapandora.org/ is seems that the new handheld will be available for pre order this august. The description in the forums make it seem it will look a bit like the gameboy ds but with more advanced controls:(like 2 joysticks) and a faster processor:(400MHZ) and some other changes:(like better 3d hardware and screens). They seem to mention a price of $199 dollars. It appears to be open source and might have commercial games developed for it.

    Looks very interesting. Forget the games, look at the specs.

    * Texas Instruments OMAP3530 processor at 600MHz (can be overclocked to 900MHz[5])
    * PowerVR SGX 530 (110 MHz) OpenGL ES 2.0 compliant 3D hardware
    * Integrated Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
    * Integrated Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (3Mbit/s)[4]
    * 800x480 resolution touchscreen LCD, 4.3" widescreen, 16.7 million colors (300 cd/m2 brightness, 450:1 contrast ratio)
    * Dual SDHC card slots (currently up to 64GB of storage)
    * Headphone output up to 150mW/channel into 16 ohms, 99dB SNR
    * TV output (composite and S-Video)
    * Internal microphone plus ability to connect external microphone through headset
    * 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad
    * USB 2.0 OTG port (480Mb/s) with capability to charge the Pandora
    * USB 2.0 HOST port (480Mb/s) capable of providing standard 500mA current to attached devices
    * 4000mAH rechargeable lithium ion battery

    It's a whole little PC. I just hope it really ends up costing $200. I know how these things go. [IMG]

    KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!! [IMG]

    Ahem. The OP gave me the wrong impression, with all that "they seem to mention a price of $199 dollars" talk.
    Well, $330 isn't bad either... I guess...

    Only thing i can say after seeing pictures of it:

    ITS THE DSP! RUN!

    Seriously, you have sticks (like PSP has one) You have Big wide screen (like PSP) it has laptop desing and touchscreen (like DS).

    It would be amazing To see one, but it has pretty monsterous size aswell - N64 games with you where you go would be nice, tough, if it can be managed.

    Monstrous size? It's supposed to be in between a DS Phat and a DS Lite in size.

    okay, i remembered wrong, the picture in wikipedai gives mindset that it is huge - having all those buttons and keyboard and all.

    Really cool.

    You know, I'm surprised that this thing didn't get shut down. It's sole purpose is pretty much to play N64, SNES, Playstation, etc. ROMs. I expected Nintendo and Sony to go ape shit on this console.

    Anyways, it has a lot of potential right now and I want to see just how powerful it is and how much support it will have from the community. I want to play FF7 and N64 games on this, for sure.
