So why is the brick rate so high? Is it because n3ds doesnt fully recognize 2.1 firmware?

Well yeah, but also I have done this flawlessly many times and I still am having problems DG'ing my 2ds... So it's also methods and whatnot. Like I can dg to 1.0 on it but 2.1 I brick before it finishes installing on native firm. It's all about the little permissions we have while DG'ing that cause bricks

Yeah i hate asking so many questions and bugging everyone but i just wanted to be sure, i have a majoras 3dsxl that i dont want to lose, i already risked downgrading it and setting up emunand and all that to begin with i just dont want to lose all of my work ive done on it, so im going by the guide without cubic ninja to set this up.

It's the reverse. You have to decrypt your NAND and re-encrypt it with another keyslot.

it should be fine as long as you try not to misplace things with nand. TBH I think setting up 2.1, 1.0 on emunand is better so you know it boots then flashing it to sysnand. Then you know it works and you can dump otp. The only thing is you can't restore nand perfectly yet which means you'r stuck.

So should i just wait a couple of days for more progress to be made?, im right at step 20 of the first part where you wipe your sd with a new emunand setup and have to copy all your backup data back

Yes. Seriously just wait. They haven't even gotten D9 working on >3.0 hence leaving you stuck.

just to clarify, is it safe to update a downgraded New3DS to 4.x using a game card? I think I saw different responses so I want to be sure. trying to run Decrypt9 through the browser keeps freezing.

No, because it'll be updated with an O3DS firmware, which is why they need to get a stable Decrypt9 working on >3.0

When you use the installer what exectly did it?
On my and on @Audioboxer n3ds its (craches?) it gets black and do nothing and now it loads nothing

We're definitely bricked! Only option is hardmod.

Can't for the life of me figure out how to get Rei working on a sysnand only partition, which is currently running 9.2.

With a new 3ds downgraded you can't update with a game (i can't at least) you need to use this decrypt9 https://gbatemp.net/threads/otp-guide.415140/page-19#post-6084203 and inyect a backup of your nand.

So with the 2.1 n3ds I use it to upgrade to 4.x and then use decrypted9 to restore? I don't why it can't be directly to 9.2....

No, use Decrypt9 in 2.1 and restore the nand.bin
