Just to understand the order of IOS's involved, if I have a virgin 4.2U Wii and want to use Waninikoko's cIOS to run WAD manager, I need to:

Downgrade IOS15, to Trucha patch IOS36, to install IOS38, which installs IOS249 and IOS250...

Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

You don't install IOS38, the cIOS installer patches it directly from the internet or a wad and instslls it to IOS249 and IOS250

Please follow the guide in the sticky.
Else you can really fuck up.

@Old8oy: Yes, I know that guide very, very well. I just wanted to know whether I was actually installing and IOS or patching one.

@tattar8: Thanks!

I have a safer procedure where overwriting IOSs from nintendo isn't _ever_ needed.

You can use a simplified one than mine yet cleaner than the popular trash method, however. This works with 4.2 afaik:
- TBR: Downgrade IOS15 // We modify nintendo crap here, but it's not part of the boot chain AFAIK so it's safe
- TBR: Use it to truchabug 36 with all patches, saved as 236
- TBR: Restore IOS15 // We restore the nintendo crap as it was, as we don't need it anymore
- Anytitle deleter mod v6b (it's the only one that allows selecting IOS on startup afaik) -> select 236 -> delete stubs for ios 222,223,249,250
- newest CIOS Installer -> select loading 236 -> install latest cios
- newest cMIOS Installer -> select loading 249 -> install latest cMIOS

Have fun.

How's that any different than what the existing guides do? And I like how the first step that you posted contradicts the first sentence you wrote.
