Hardware Optiplex 330 upgrade

Hello guys, so today I got an dell optiplex 330 as a gift so that got me to think, could I upgrade the optiplex to be a decent gaming pc like the potato masher or would it be better to start from scratch and get everything brand new. Any help is appreciated thank you.

Which CPU does it have? And is it the small form factor version or the wide one?

It has a pentium dual core it's the wide one, I included a picture of the insides of the tower

Oh gosh, it's one of the older ones. I don't think you'll find much that will boost it enough to play modern games at a decent level

It's a Socket 755. It's only going to support up to a core 2 duo. E8600 will be your best bet. Shouldn't be expensive. If it is an E8400 is dirt cheap, and it won't be much of a difference. Only has 2 ram slots, and a crap PSU... 4 GB DDr2, and something like a GTX 1050ti (Make sure it'll actually fit in the case) will be your best bet for moderate gaming. Won't be top of the line, but it'll do ok.

Just for getting an idea, would it be able to run resident evil 7 at 30fps?

Your mileage will really vary. Some games i imagine will feel like you have a halfway decent PC. Some it will just struggle on. I think RE7 will be passable if you keep the settings low to mid, but I really can't be sure.

There's a thing called "bottlenecking" that will make that an issue
